The Spirit Weeps
"The Spirit Weeps" details the characteristics and dynamics of incest and child sexual abuse. It specifically addresses the Native perspective on child sexual abuse. The greatest strength of the book lies in its unique attempt to develop on the understanding of the historical and current force that contributes to sexual abuse in native families.
Written by veteran psychologist Tony Martens, BSW, M.Sc (in psychology), he has worked in partnership with First Nations and Inuit communities across Canada and the USA to address issues of sexual abuse and family violence. Previously, he was the National Family Violence consultant for Health Canada, responding to crisis situations in First Nations and Inuit communities.
